Off the cuff day

Today was just a see what happens day as well as a last minute tour decision

We started the day relaxing until lunch time then started a slow stroll through another market forum and through some lovely streets until we reached our lunch destination. Lari The vino - an out of the way place where locals and tourists (who are lucky enough to know about it) eat!  I had sausage and onion pizza and Shan did part 2 of having pasta carbonara - which she is in love with

Here are some pics of the forum we saw today - there are actually several of the around Rome

We did more walking then back to hotel to wait for our tour of the Panthenon. It’s an ancient building and very interesting to view from inside - this tour was on the short side BUT as we were wrapping up - the guide turned to me and Shan and said now we three will continue -  Shan and I were deer in the headlights so he shared we had also booked a walking tour of fountains.  We did not know this but it was fantastic!

We saw numerous squares, fountains, the first university in Rome.  It was a very pleasing experience

Here are pics from the Panthenon -  first Raphalle’s burial site

The ceiling with the hole (oculus)

From here we started our tour of squares and fountains
Bernini did several of the sculptures and threw shade at some people - like on statue is acting like a building is going to fall on him because he didn’t like the architect of the building - Another was an elephant pointing his backside to the Franciscan orders building as they tried to tell him how to do his job.  Both were quite comical

We wrapped the day up with desert for dinner!

And we are amassing a nice collection of ear buds
