Pompeii

So after breakfast, we decided to go explore the ruins of Pompeii. So our hotel is directly across the street from the entrance which was a planned event. So off we go and we get into Pompeii and it is beautiful gorgeous and packed with people. Our first stop was the amphitheater, which still had seats in it. You were able to go into the the floor of the arena and we learned how they got the animals in and out and it was just impressive. Then we started our wandering about because as you can recall from the last post, we did not go on our guided tour so it was me and Shannon and a map and off we went trudging along large cobblestone streets where you could see the ruts of the wagon wheels in them. They were completely uneven a trip hazard. It was just war with walking. It was hard to walk and look at stuff for fear of tripping so in short, it was not handicapped accessible .

We viewed many businesses houses public baths and it was just fascinating. It was very large. We spent two hours and two point something miles walking around and as we were walking around Shannon and I kept cursing John Earl. Cursing you ask?   yes,  the John Earl gene was in full force. We were doing the drip, drip drip of sweat rolling off our noses our foreheads, our eyelids and even our it buttcracks!  This place was packed!

We returned to our quaint hotel and sat in the citrus orchard area, waiting on our driver , the next post will talk about our drive to Nerano and our hotel - LoScoglia
