Oh the humidity!

Not once did Shan or I factor in humidity for our visit to the south of France.
It’s pushing 80% humidity and as I sit her on the shaded balcony with a fan blowing and I am sweating.

We took a short walk around the area earlier and we both had sweat dripping....and I mean John Earl type dripping!

So we are now awaiting our lunch to be delivered by Uber Eats and are planning on just hanging out today.  Mainly to recover from our 12-13 hour drive yesterday

Tomorrow we are headed to Monaco - and are already planning our coolest outfit that somehow has to include capris or pants.  Both sound hot to me!

We’ll post more soon from our past couple of days

Have finally arrived in Nice!

we have arrived at our lovely 2 bedroom apartment on the famed promenade de Anglais with a full unobstructed view of the Mediterranean! We left Lyon expecting a 7 hour or so total travel time.   12.5 hours later we arrived

This is what it looks like
Ha!   I’ll post a better picture tomorrow

There was terrible traffic on the interstate so we chose to take an alternate route
Which took us through the French countryside. It was stunning
Acres and acres of grape vines and sunflowers

Short note - we “rescued” some grapes, apples, and blackberries on our remote travels

More about our last couple of days will come tomorrow

There is a city named after me!

So we went by the city of Meaux today.

Got our rental car

So after pastry class when zipped over to Avis to pick up our rental car.   They surprised me with an free upgrade to a BMW convertible!

We then went on our way ...... straight back to Avis.   Seems we had a little problem getting out of there!   We figured it out and made our way to Epernay.  We had a tour scheduled for Mort &Chandon champagne house.  It was a great tour.  Went down into the caves and then had a wonderful champagne tasting

Hello all.  Shan and I have had a busy day

We started with our 2nd pastry class - -  we made croissants and pain du chocolate.  It was very fun and actually easy.  However it does take a number of hours.   We did “cheat”.   We made the dough. Kneaded it and then let it rise etc.     we then took some dough that was ready and rolled it out and made our treats.    We then went back and added the butter and did all of the “turns” to incorporate the butter and to make all the flaky layers. Here are some pictures from the class

Well, the second day started with us sleeping until 9am and we were suppose to be at the bus stop by 9:30....surprise, we didn’t make it. We finally headed outside to overcast skies with rain threatening in the afternoon. A little rain was not gonna stop the Creel girls from their schedule! Toured around town a bit, missy got an ice cream then the bottom opened up and it poured. Made it back to the hotel to hangout and wait for dinner time. Just returned from dinner at a cute cafe around the corner where I had the best polenta I’ve ever eaten, might have had something to do with the real heavy cream!

So we have had a busy first day in Paris...

Had a lunch at a cute bistro down the street and then walked around and ended up by the train station

Then took a Uber down to the Palais Royal
Wandered around there and then strolled past the Louvre and to the Seine

Then we headed over to Le Grand Colbert for a very slow paced dinner.  It was extremely good!  But 2 hours later we were ready for it to be over!!!

A quick Uber back to hotel.  We did a lot of walking and our feet are sore!!

In the room watching a movie and planning tomorrows activities.

We have arrived!

we both arrived Paris with little difficulty.  Smooth flights for both.

Had lunch at a little bistro down the street and then walked around the neighborhood some. We had to waste some time as our room wasn’t ready

We are now in our very cozy room at the Hotel Helussi.  It’s a quaint boutique hotel.  We are on the 5th floor and we have a balcony

Here are a couple of street views
