Turns out 5 full days in Tokyo is a bit much for me and Shan - On Wednesday - all 3 of us went to a class call The Art of Golden Joinery. Fun times finding the location - but it wasn’t really that hard. It was quite fun and we felt like true artisans. Here’s our work
After class - at Jason’s suggestion - we had lunch at Wendy’s. It was similar, but still a little different from ours in the States.
We parted with Jason and made our way back to the hotel.
Shan and I had dinner in the Executive Lounge - where we were brave and tried this beautiful creation. It really didn’t have a flavor or taste.
Below - you will see that we tried a Japanese version of chicken nuggets and some sort of steamed thingamajig. I liked the steamed thingamajig but Shan didn’t.
We also went down a couple of blocks to the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Office, where there are 10-15 minute light shows. It was very cool and innovative!
On Thursday Shan and I had a mission of going to Meguro River area. There is a canal that is lined with Cherry trees - so we wanted to see the cherry blossoms there. Interesting train ride over there - as in it was jam packed. Think of how many clowns you can get into a car then add 50 more people!
We did stop at this local place for lunch- Ramen, fried rice, soup -and we both actually enjoyed it.
The trees along the Meguro River weren’t in full bloom but they were still pretty and you could envision how they would look when in full bloom.
Missy also made a friend here. She saw someone smoking and asked where there was a designated smoking area. He took me to the 2nd floor of an office building. As and FYI you can only smoke in designated areas or you will be fined. I didn’t think twice about going with my new found friend - but I did when we got to the elevator. Another lady joined us on the elevator so I was at ease. Sure enough, he had taken me to a smoking room. Which looked like the waiting room at the local Social Security Office.
Again - as a reminder - Shan and I have turned into “professional” photographers along with everyone else in Tokyo.
A funny lighthearted moment - we saw these 2 older ladies fussing back and forth over which way they should be going while looking at a map. This is me and Shan to a tee!
The world’s busiest pedestrian crossing was up next for us. Jason is still off doing his own thing.
This is Shibuya crossing. We walked around and did a bit of shopping.
Of course I had to stop at L’Occitane - picked up a few things. Which I totally did not need.
Stores were all jam packed with stuff. There is this one called Don Quotee - which is 5-8 floors of stuff - groceries, home goods, candy, liquor, pretty much any and everything you would want at a discount.
Final night 2 hour dinner. Kobe beef filet. So yummy!
Is this rosemary table decor real or not?
Well - Yes it was real. It looked so fake at a glance, but it was a real live plant!
Our last full day was spent at Ueno Park and museums around it. It was a fair like atmosphere. People everywhere admiring the Cherry Blossoms and per usual - everyone was professional photographers - trying to get the best picture!!
There were rows and rows and rows of food stalls. Anyone interested in a roasted fish on a stick???
At one of the museums there was this area to store your umbrella - you lock it into place so no one will take it.
Ever heard or used the term “Short Bus” - well this is a public transportation ‘short’ bus. Was sooo cute!
That’s it for Tokyo - Heading to Singapore on Saturday. Jason is headed to Seoul - with his fancy new tattoo he got on Friday in Tokyo.
