Keep up!

We were a busy little beehive today!  We visited Sterling Castle, Rosalyn Capel, Midhope castle, Blackness Castle, and Linlithgow Palace.

Sterling Castle was amazing. Had a wonderful guided tour and learned a lot!  For example. The gold colored building would have been the color of all the buildings - to show off wealth and so you could also see it from miles around.  But Mr Tour Guide shared that the castle foundation could only afford to put this on one building.

Then it was on to Rosalyn Chapel - which it’s current claim to fame is as an important part of the book/movie the DaVinci Code.  But that aside it is a lovely chapel with so many carvings etc. it is still an active church and we had a nice speaker talk to us all for about 30 minutes. Not many photos as you can’t take pictures inside

From here we had some time so drove like what seemed in circles and were able to walk around Linlithgow palace - where Mary queen of scots was born.  It’s just a hollow shell but could imagine how magnificent it would have been

Next was Midhope Castle - the place used in the Outlander series as Jaimes house.  We had tickets for today but they were cancelled as they are filming for the series.  So we swung by yesterday to try to get a glimpse and we did!

So we still had time left in the day and were trying to fill it up since Richard is departing for home - so we googled and found Blackness Castle. Really cool place right in the river

Afterwards we found out it was also used as a filming location for Outlander

However the most memorable thing is after we walked down the road to it the wind kicked up and it started raining pretty good. So as you can imagine we were all freezing - even Richard!

After this we checked in to the airport hotel and saw Richard off -
