We enjoyed the first of our 3 trains to Birmingham - but things went sideways when we arrived at the Nuneaton station. Our train was late and our connecting train left us! Along with about 50 other people. It was sad, as the train left after seeing our train arrive and some brave souls that were Running toward the train. Alas, it didn’t matter
We discovered the next train was over an hour later, which would have out a kink in our plans. However! Missy had the grand idea to see if an Uber would take us the rest of the way and behold—-it would. So we quickly booked a ride and ended up at the Horse of the Year Show a 1/2 hour earlier than originally planned.
So off we go through all the vendors. Watch a few classes. Eat a terrific Belgium waffle with Nutella. Then sit down in the main arena to watch a few classes. I didn’t take pictures of the one that was a hoot. 4 teams of 5 kids doing relay races - popping balloons while going at a breakneck pace. To picking blocks up and setting them down. It was really cool and as a side note these were games that Prince Philip created back in the 50’s
Then on to some show jumping. Really enjoyed that
Here’s a video (hope it works) of one horse jumping and a fantastic crowd rendition of Sweet Caroline
It was great fun and so glad we did this as a spur of the moment thing. Do have to admit I placed an order for a tweed riding jacket that I can wear next year when showing Sofia. Talk about spur of the moment!
So we make our way to the train station and actually get a seat with a window!!
We are now on our final train (with a window) and should arrive back to London around 9:00pm
It was a long but very fun day!
Bravo you always deliver 💕
ReplyDeleteOh what a day! It sounds fantastic and the crowd looks like a fun group
