Killarney continued

Today began with a really great breakfast then we were off to drive some parts of Ring of Kerry.  We didn’t drive it all but did see some pretty scenery

Our first stop was

It was a neat little recreation of a village  - the types of houses different folks would have

They had 2 Irish Wolf hounds who were very friendly and laid back and they had 2 big ponies - which these little guys were almost extinct in the 1990’s but a man found 20 and started breeding to save them

No, they aren’t dirty. That’s just the colors of their coats. They are really tall!!

Thatched roofs

This is a famine pot. Where large batches of “soup” were made to help reduce the deaths.  However it was really water with some greens and herbs - not much nutritional value

There was also this thing called a Vardo

After this we drove a bit farther then made our way to the other side of the Ring of Kerry to see the Torc waterfall. It was very nice and the hike through the woods was stunning. Moss covered everything!

We spent the late afternoon relaxing in the piano room at the hotel - had the best warm Caesar salad I’ve ever eaten!!

The rain has gotten heavier through this evening so we are now watching a movie!
