Loch Ness and more

Today was a rather busy day.  It was also windy and rainy on and off all day.

We all awoke somewhat refreshed in our B&B had a bit of breakfast then off we went!

First up was a cruise on Loch Ness and a stop at Urquhat (sp?) Castle.  It was just amazing.  So peaceful and serene

The castle was a ruin but the location was lovely - right on the bank of the loch

After a few hours of this we were on the road again and between the 3 of us and a questionable navigation lady we made it to Glenfinnin Aquaduct to view the Harry Potter train

Didn’t realize that about 300 other people had the same idea.  Also we thought you parked and there it was - but no - if you wanted a perfect viewing spot one would need to hike under the viaduct then up a steep hill - so off we went -

Gotcha -  no we stopped at a certain point and hung out under a tree due to amount of rain falling  we naively thought this would be like a Swiss train - very prompt - but We were ready and in place at 2:50 for a 3:00 viewing   And we waited  and waited   3:10 and still nothing   It’s raining harder now  3:15 still nothing   Then at 3:23 - 2 minutes before we were going to give up it arrived!  After all of this, we all went, - yep, there’s a train - let’s go now 😂😂

We also finally saw highland cows - which in Scotland they are called Coos    They have a sort of “hairdo” on their heads - you’ll have to zoom in to see it

Next we had an unplanned stop - you know those are the best - saw a ruin of an old house/castle. Again a lovely setting

Also as an FYI. The number of times we have said “ohhh that’s SOOO pretty” has now reached 3,302,035 times

More later on our accommodations for the night

  1. It is so beautiful and so understandable why the Queen loved to be in Scotland
