Today we left Limerick on our way to Killarney.
GPS gave us trouble in finding the location we needed to be at 1:15 - the location was our Jaunting Car tour. We didn’t want to be late and miss it - so 1 nab system and 2 phones using maps finally got us there ::: at 1:17 BUT we had to go to the loo and also pay for parking Once that was done our guide was patiently waiting on us and we lucked out to be the only folks for this tour
Now, I know you are curious as to what a jaunting car is …. It’s a carriage ride in a wagon This took us through a 26,000 acre park It was really cool - even though it was raining
Shan and our guide talked horses - Sweetie was an Irish Draught horse, is 7 years old, and has a best friend. They fuss if they aren’t right next to each other so they have to work on different days :)
They work for 2 days then are off for a week and have to eat 3 times during their work day If they don’t eat then they aren’t allowed to do a tour - something to do with keeping them heathy
Of course Shan “checked” Sweetie out - didn’t want to support folks that don’t care for their horses and Shan gave her passing marks
The park was once privately owned and was gifted to the county
Next up was shopping and a late lunch. Killarney is so much nicer than Limerick
After lunch and more browsing we headed to our lake retreat just outside of town in a gorgeous setting
It was actually recommended by a friend of mine
Always fun to read about your adventures
