Train to Florence

We departed Rome on a high speed train headed to Florence - no issues and just average views

The taxi ride to the hotel was life threatening - we chalked it up to just 1 taxi driver but no - that wasn’t the case.  The ride home from dinner was worse as it was now raining. Both drivers made up their own lanes but were surprisingly respectful of the pedestrians.

Dinner -  we chose this specific restaurant after viewing a foodie series by Stanley Tucci - the restaurant turns out to be a top 10 Florence eatery.

We wisely made reservations while still in Rome - thanks front desk lady! She called on our behalf to make the reservation

Back to dinner - we chose this place to sample the famous Floretine Steak.

The line waiting for restaurant to open
On rare occasions can you get in without a reservation

It was a very cozy place and the food was wonderful

Here is our 2.7 pound floretine steak
Our waitress was kind enough to phone a taxi for us - but it never came.  It began raining and there were tons of taxis driving down the street - some with and some without passengers. A restaurant employee came out to tell us the taxis just decided to strike and said try to get one up the street.
Great- so what are we to do?  The walk to the hotel would be about an hour as we are staying just out of the city center but neither of us wants to do that - right!?!?
Finally a taxi had his light on and we stopped him. Took him a minute to decide if he wanted the fare and luck was on our side!

Back at the hotel without air conditioning - it’s broken but we do have a nice osscilating fan. They are fixing the air con problem tomorrow

Good night for now!
